The Homepage pane allows you to choose between five homepage designs in the drop-down menu on the left. There are homepages for younger and older children, in a home or educational environment, and a special mode for very young preschool-age children. Home mode displays a homepage (the screen seen when you first launch BumperCar, or when you click the bumper car icon in the top left of the browser window.) that allows kids to move the bumper car around the screen with the arrow keys and includes a link to resources for parents in the bottom left corner of the page. Education mode displays a simpler, more focused page design meant to be free of distractions. On the right, the Homepage pane displays the five categories shown on the homepage. You can click each one to see the sites it contains listed in the box below; use the plus and minus buttons to add or remove sites. If you select the Education design, you can also enter your institution’s name in the field at the bottom of the pane for display at the top of the homepage.

Each of the homepage themes has its own collection of links, which can be edited in this view. The list to the upper right lists the available link categories; click one of these to display its links in the lower list. Double-click on an entry in the list to change its URL or name; use the + and - buttons to add new links and delete existing ones.

Preschool mode makes the browser more suitable for use by very young children. The browser window always fills the screen and most functions outside the window are disabled, to prevent accidental commands with unexpected results and keep the child in a "sandbox" of kid-friendly Web sites. You can exit Preschool mode by pressing Command-Q to quit the browser, or pressing Command-Option-Q to return to the Safety Settings window.

The "Custom..." entry in the popup menu lets you type in the address of a Web site for the browser to go to when a new window is opened. When you select it, a dialog will drop down with a place to enter the address. When a custom homepage is used, there are no link collections available, so the category and link lists are blank.
